Got a Tip?

‘Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice’ Will Have IMAX Sequences, Plus Iconic Scene Rumored

Batman Vs. Superman Ben Affleck BatmanWhile some on our team were distracted by the changing aspect ratios of “Interstellar” in IMAX, the sheer quality and magnitude of the footage (not to mention the steep surcharge) means that filmmakers will continue to gravitate to the format. The latest IMAX convert? Zack Snyder.

With rumors along those lines floating all over the web-o-nets the past day or two, Slashfilm has confirmed that large format cameras are being used on the comic book movie shoot. Just how extensive the IMAX scenes will be remains to be seen, but one iconic sequence in particular appears to have been shot as such. Warning: spoilers ahead.

Some eagle-eyed fans in Chicago (via Collider) have spotted the crew of “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” shooting what appears to be the murder of Bruce Wayne’s parents. That’s right folks, the “Watchmen” director is following in the footsteps of his “Man Of Steel” executive producer Christopher Nolan by shooting also (maybe) the death of the Waynes, and you can check out the (sketchy) fan footage below. There have been IMAX cameras spotted in the vicinity as well, so this could literally and figuratively be huge.

So Bruce Wayne’s parents have died over and over again on both the big and small screen, and it seems Snyder might be putting his own (slo-mo?) stamp on the death that put the young man on the path of being a vigilante crime fighter. If true, it’s a bit curious, since by all accounts thus far, we’re meeting an older, grizzled, getting-too-old-for-this-shit Batman. So flashback sequence maybe?

Anyway, you’ll find out when “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
