‘Being The Ricardos’ Trailer: Nicole Kidman & Javier Bardem Star In Aaron Sorkin’s Tale Of ‘I Love Lucy’ Drama

Aaron Sorkin is fairly new to this whole directing thing, but the filmmaker isn’t slowing down at all. After his 2017 directorial debut, “Molly’s Game,” Sorkin turned around and released “The Trial of the Chicago 7” in 2020. Now, just a year later, he’s back with his third gig behind the camera with “Being the Ricardos.”

As seen in the trailer for “Being the Ricardos,” Sorkin has written and directed a biopic of sorts about Lucille Ball and the behind-the-scenes drama that plagued her career. In the film, Ball is portrayed by Nicole Kidman with Javier Bardem playing her husband/co-star, Desi Arnaz. And as we know with all walks of life, drama always comes up when you work alongside your real-life significant other. So, the set of “I Love Lucy” was nothing short of complex and messy, to say the least.

The film is written and directed by Aaron Sorkin. Joining the aforementioned acting duo of Kidman and Bardem in the cast are Jake Lacy, J.K. Simmons, Nina Arianda, Tony Hale, and Alia Shawkat.

“Being the Ricardos” debuts in theaters on December 10 before hitting Prime Video on December 21. You can watch the trailer below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Lucille Ball (Nicole Kidman) and Desi Arnaz (Javier Bardem) are threatened by shocking personal accusations, a political smear, and cultural taboos in Academy Award®-winning writer and director Aaron Sorkin’s behind-the-scenes drama Being the Ricardos. A revealing glimpse of the couple’s complex romantic and professional relationship, the film takes audiences into the writers’ room, onto the soundstage, and behind closed doors with Ball and Arnaz during one critical production week of their groundbreaking sitcom I Love Lucy. Featuring J.K. Simmons and Nina Arianda.
