The Berlin Film Festival has revealed a poster for the upcoming event and it gets straight to the point. Boasting a giant ‘B’ to represent both Berlin and Berlinale, designers Büro Otto Sauhaus explain their approach to the design. “‘B’ stands for the Berlinale as well as Berlin. In the background we decided to use luminous beams radiating outwards, a design element that goes back to poster art of the 1920s and alludes to the Berlinale’s extraordinary aura.”
The poster will be seen throughout Berlin and will be utilized in many of the festival’s publications and programs.
The 61st Berlin Film Festival runs from February 10-20, 2011 and the early films announced include such notable titles as the Coen Brothers‘ “True Grit,” Miranda July‘s “The Future,” Ralph Fiennes‘ “Coriolanus” and Wim Wenders‘ “Pina.” The complete festival lineup will be confirmed in early February though more announcements should be made in the coming weeks.
