Based on the 1957 children’s book by Dr. Seuss, “The Cat In The Hat” focused on a wacky and mischievous talking anamorphic cat with all sorts of manic devices within a fantastical world not unlike that of the Grinch. An animated TV special aired on CBS back in 1971 and was habitually shown in reruns over the years like other Dr. Seuss animated projects. Other recent animated incarnations of Sesuss’ work included “The Lorax,” “The Grinch,” and “Horton Hears A Who.”

As the outlet mentions, this new movie will see Hader’s Cat cheering up a pair of children who have just moved to a new town, and as we expect, an outrageous adventure ensues.

Fellow “SNL” alumn Mike Myers previously played the part in 2003 for Amblin Entertainment and Universal Pictures’ live-action feature film incarnation of the Dr. Seuss classic after the global box office success of Ron Howard’sHow The Grinch Stole Christmas” with Jim Carrey famously in the prosthetic suit/makeup.

Hader isn’t a stranger to animation as he’s lent his voice to projects like “Inside Out,” Lightyear,” “Bob’s Burgers,” “South Park,” “The Simpsons,” and the two “Angry Birds” movies. Funny enough, Hader, during his tenure at “Saturday Night Live,” once played a live-action parody of “The Cat In The Hat,” which you can watch below.
