Bill Murray Confirms Appearance In ‘Ant-Man 3’ But Doesn’t See Another Comic Book Film In His Future

Bill Murray is no stranger to franchise films. He’s appeared in multiple “Ghostbusters” films, including the upcoming reboot-quel that is scheduled to arrive next month, “Ghostbusters: Afterlife.” He’s also done a “Charlie’s Angels” film and multiple “Zombieland” features. And now, it appears Murray is venturing into the Marvel Cinematic Universe for “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.” But don’t get excited for a nine-film deal with Marvel Studios because that isn’t happening.

Speaking to the German outlet, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (via Variety), Bill Murray seemingly let it slip that he is appearing in a Marvel Studios film that he recently shot. While he doesn’t mention the exact franchise by name, it would all line up with the rumors that Murray is in fact appearing in the upcoming “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania,” which is in the middle of production now.

“You know, recently I made a Marvel movie,” Murray revealed. “I probably won’t tell you, but nevermind.”

“In any case, some people were quite surprised why I decided on such a project,” he added. “But for me the thing was quite clear: I got to know the director — and really liked him very much. He was funny, humble, everything you want from a director.”

The actor continued by saying that comic book films typically don’t interest him, but he was so impressed by the director of ‘Ant-Man 3,” Peyton Reed, that he decided to do one film in the superhero franchise. However, he’s not going to make a regular habit out of appearing in the MCU.

“Let’s put it this way: the director is a good guy, and now I’ve at least tried out what it’s like to shoot a Marvel movie,” Murray said. “But I don’t think I need that experience a second time.”

His role in “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Qauntumania” is still unknown. The film is scheduled to arrive in theaters on July 28, 2023.
