Well, it’s official. Like official, official. Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter are definitely going to film the upcoming sequel “Bill & Ted Face the Music” this summer with a 2020 release date in mind. (Insert Air Guitar Solo)
First, there was the ‘Excellent Adventure.’ Then came the ‘Bogus Journey.’ Now the duo ‘Face the Music,’ as they play middle-aged best friends that are once again in the middle of time-travel hijinks. Of course, it’s up to William “Bill” S. Preston Esq. and Theodore “Ted” Logan to save the universe with the power of song.

The synopsis (below) also teases that the duo will be helped by old friends, music legends, and their families along the way. This ties into speculation and rumors that the film will see the duo bring their kids along for the ride, creating a potential new franchise focusing on the next generation of time-traveling slackers.
While it’s been 30 years since the original film, fans should be happy to know that original franchise writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon are back, with director Dean Parisot at the helm.
Who are the old friends (sadly, it won’t be George Carlin, as the actor/comedian passed away in 2008)? And what new faces will join Reeves and Winter? We’ll find out shortly, as production is expected to begin soon.
“Bill & Ted Face the Music” will hit theaters August 21, 2020.
Here’s the synopsis:

Yet to fulfill their rock and roll destiny, the now middle-aged best friends set out on a new adventure, when a visitor from the future warns them that only their song can save life as we know it and bring harmony to the universe. Along the way, they will be helped by their families, old friends and a few music legends.
