Got a Tip?

‘Blue Ruin’ And ‘Green Room’ Director Jeremy Saulnier Will ‘Hold The Dark’

Hold The Dark Jeremy SaulnierJeremy Saulnier is on a pretty remarkable run right now. The director took six years between his feature debut "Murder Party" and his sophomore effort "Blue Ruin," but the long wait has sharpened his skills and has resulted in a movie that became an almost instant sensation. This year he followed it up with "Green Room," which largely met the big anticipation for the punk rock vs. neo-Nazi flick, and now Saulnier is putting another hot project on his plate.

He’ll be teaming up with A24 to adapt William Giraldi‘s novel "Hold The Dark." Sounding like a cross between "Prisoners" and "The Revenant," the story kicks off when a child is taken from his village by a pack of wolves, and an expert hunter is summoned to track and destroy them. His mission leads him down an increasingly dark and shocking path as he confronts the cruelty of nature and his own failures. With the child’s grief-crazed father closing in behind him and a fierce, unforgiving landscape ahead, it becomes increasingly unclear who is really being hunted. Yep, this sounds great.

Saulnier’s bud Macon Blair will write the screenplay, so let’s hope this one gets in front or cameras fast. In the meantime, keep an eye out for "Green Room," a nasty little piece of business that will definitely please the director’s fans.
