Life is tragic, to be sure. But less so when you have endless choices for entertainment…
On this episode of Adjust Your Tracking, Joe and I get back on mic after a nice holiday break and start the new year off by… catching up on 2017 movies. It’s a diverse slate, at least, but yeah, we’re still catching up on a lot this time of year.
As we unpack the many layers of tragedy, humanism, absurdist comedy and sci-fi tropes in Don Hertzfeldt‘s latest short film, “The World Of Tomorrow Episode Two: The Burden of Other People’s Thoughts,” we also appreciate that someone like Hertzfeldt can even exist in this industry, able to have a career and make great art (dude’s a genius, just saying). We’re so excited that you can now see this 22-minute short film wonder, the sequel, of course, to his 2015 masterpiece “World of Tomorrow.” It’s now available for rent at Vimeo. We recommend you check it out as well as all of Hertzfeldt’s gorgeous oeuvre.
LISTEN: AYT Talks ‘The Shape of Water’
As we continue into the world of streaming, Joe decides to lay on the sword and defend “Bright,” the maligned Netflix release (here’s The Playlist’s no-holding-back, F-grade takedown) directed by “Suicide Squad” helmer David Ayer. We find plenty of value to discuss on this one, actually. Winding down at the end of the episode we discuss an old master, Steven Spielberg, and his new film “The Post.”
