Emmy-winning actress Anna Sawai made a huge splash last year with her fantastic performance in the acclaimed samurai series “Shogun” and has landed a high-profile role in David Leitch‘s latest effort, an Amazon MGM Studios heist film called “How To Rob A Bank.”
The news comes to us thanks to Deadline as the Japanese-Kiwi actress joins Nicholas Hoult (“Superman”) and Pete Davidson (“The King of Staten Island”), who were previously announced for the original action flick.
Details on “How To Rob A Bank” are scarce, but it is expected to be just as eye-popping and energetic as Leitch’s previous projects, with a script penned by Mark Bianculli. The screenwriter previously worked on the Nazi-hunting Amazon series “Hunters” and the upcoming “Cliffhanger” reboot starring Lily James (“The Iron Claw”).
“How To Rob A Bank” is expected to be quite the anticipated project from action film junkies as Leitch’s previous credits include his first solo feature “Atomic Blonde,” “The Fall Guy,” “Bullet Train,” “Deadpool 2,” “Hobbs & Shaw,” and did uncredited work on the first “John Wick” film helping to launch that franchise.
This is the project that Leitch ended up landing on after being courted by Amblin and Universal to tackle “Jurassic World Rebirth,” turning it down as the gig went to Gareth Edwards.
Sawai isn’t a stranger to other big action projects, being part of the ever-growing main cast of “The Fast & The Furious” franchise, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters,” and one of her earlier roles was in The Wachowskis-produced “Ninja Assassin.”
Leitch’s longtime production designer, David Scheunemann, is also expected to reunite on “How To Rob A Bank” too.
