For many film fans, a couple of names will definitely stand out above the rest in the announcement of the 2023 Directors’ Fortnight. Leading the way is acclaimed Korean filmmaker, Hong Sang-soo with his second film of the year, “In Our Day,” which also serves as the Closing Night film of the section. This film follows two different stories, but both of them feature people who share a noodle dish with a visitor and discuss their lives. The description definitely fits what you might think of a Hong Sang-soo film.

In addition to “In Our Day,” there’s a new film from director Michel Gondry, titled “The Book of Solutions.” This film marks the first feature for Gondry since 2015’s “Microbe & Gasoline.” ‘Solutions’ stars Pierre Niney as a filmmaker who is going through a creative struggle.
