Created by René Echevarria and Travis Beacham, the Amazon Prime show is based on Beacham’s film script “A Killing on Carnival Row.” The highly anticipated second season started filming in 2019 after the show’s premiere, but experienced pandemic-related setbacks, having to pause filming twice in 2020 and then again in May of 2021 due to the birth of Orlando Bloom’s child. While Season 2 was already greenlit before audiences even had time to form a thought about Season 1, the opposite fate has met Season 2. The show stars Bloom alongside Beacham, Cara Delevingne, Brad Van Arragon, Sarah Byrd, Jim Dunn, Sam Ernst, and Wesley Strick.
