Marvel‘s clout seems to be growing by the day. It’s interesting to think that the studio who kicked off Phase One by getting Robert Downey Jr., who was still in career recovery mode at the time, to star in "Iron Man," now has the respect to land Oscar nominees and winners for their films (just look at the stacked cast for "Doctor Strange"). And so it goes for "Thor: Ragnarok."
Variety reports that "Carol" star Cate Blanchett (who already has two golden statues on her shelf for "The Aviator" and "Blue Jasmine") has joined Chris Hemsworth in the movie that will be directed by Taika Waititi. No word yet on her role except that it will be a lead part, but according to the man behind Heroic Hollywood, the actress had previously passed playing the mother of "Wonder Woman" in the upcoming movie. However, it’s not clear how long ago that was. My guess is that it’s the part that Robin Wright will now be playing, and that Nicole Kidman flirted with a while back. Either way, just a bit of trivia.
