Tyler Shields, the shock jock of photography, has grown in relevance since his controversial photo shoots involving (frequent muse) Lindsay Lohan being groped (he also shot those series of pics of her as Linda Lovelace for Matthew Wilder's "Inferno"), Mischa Barton eating raw meat (he told her you could only get salmonella and E-Coli from chicken. He was wrong—you can get it from any raw meat) and "Glee" star Heather Morris sporting a black eye. He always posts at least one picture of himself posing the model. And, to top it all off, Shields shot a guy in the chest at an art gallery (it was planned, the man was wearing a bulletproof vest).
So, yeah, Shields knows how to get people’s attention. He’s also directed some music videos, has an agent, and now is getting his first big screen directing assignment on “Final Girl,” a film about “a pack of feral teenage boys who choose the wrong girl to be the victim of their final ‘initiation.’ ” The project is being financed by Prospect Park, a company that has been involved with films like “Unstoppable” and “Seven Days in Utopia,” as well as the USA Network TV show, “Royal Pains.”
The premise of "Final Girl" seems to be in the Larry Clark/Bret Easton Ellis terrain, which should be right up Shields’ alley. While he certainly seems like a creep, it will be interesting to see how Shields’ provocative photog style translates to the big screen. And let’s just hope there’s a doctor on set to monitor what things he tries to make his cast members eat. [Variety]
