Christopher Landon seems to have mastered the genre of horror-comedy. With films like “Happy Death Day,” “Freaky” and, most recently, “We Have a Ghost” under his belt, he seems to have figured out exactly what it takes to do it right, leaving us with a pretty good idea of what to expect from a Landon film. It then comes as quite a surprise to see him make his return with “Drop,” a fast-paced thriller that promises to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. Landon is not unfamiliar to the thriller genre; he worked as writer on the 2007 Hitchcock-esque psychological thriller “Disturbia,” which saw some success at the box office.

While Hollywood has had its fair share of ‘bad-date’ movies, perhaps none have been as daring as Landon’s latest. To be fair, making an entire thriller on the premise of “the worst date you can imagine” is a massive and characteristically Landon ordeal.
The film stars a cast of television actors including Brandon Sklenar, Jeffery Self, Violett Beane, and the Emmy Award nominee Meghann Fahy in the leading role. If Fahy’s performance in The White Lotus is any indication, we are certainly in for a treat.
Here is the official synopsis:
Violet is a widowed mother who goes to an upscale restaurant to meet Henry, her charming and handsome date. However, her pleasant evening soon turns into a living nightmare when she receives phone messages from a mysterious, hooded figure who threatens to kill her young son and sister unless she kills Henry.
Drop is scheduled for release in the US on April 11. Find the latest trailer below:
