Charlize Theron & Daniel Craig Team With Director Justin Lin For Heist Thriller 'Two For The Money'

It seems like anytime a bidding war breaks out these days, the only ones who can truly win it are Netflix, Amazon, or Apple, the streamers with essentially the biggest coffers. And true to this posit, Apple has won another big one in “Two For The Money,” a heist thriller with an enticing package: Charlize Theron and Daniel Craig starring with filmmaker Justin Lin (“Fast & Furious 6” “F9,” andStar Trek Beyond”) directing.

Dan Mazeau, who worked with Lin to co-write “Fast X,” is writing the “Two For The Money” script, though it’s apparently still in development, according to THR. The plot details are under wraps, but the project is said to be about the evolution of a relationship between two career thieves over the course of three big heists.

Line and Mazeau apparently came up with the idea during their time on “Fast X” and pitched it to Theron, who was part of that vast cast. Lin, of course, would not go on to direct “Fast X,” exiting the project reportedly over issues with the franchise star Vin Diesel.

Interestingly, with Netflix seemingly getting a bit more conservative of late, recently scrapping the expensive Nancy Meyers comedy with Scarlett Johansson, Michael Fassbender, Penelope Cruz, and more, and Adam McKay’sAverage Build, Average Height” with Robert Downey Jr. and Robert Pattinson, Apple might be the last game in town for big, expensive, starry-packages (Amazon is still in there, but seemingly hasn’t bought a giant project since their “Lord Of The Rings” series).

Apple also recently forked over some $200 million for Martin Scorsese’sKillers Of The Flower Moon,” an acclaimed prestige project not expected to recoup its cost. Apple has two more expensive projects in the wings with huge casts, too, including Matthew Vaughn’s all-star “Argylle” spy film and their Formula 1 project from Top Gun Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski starring Brad Pitt.
