Check Out These Minimalist, Old School Paperback-Style Posters For The Films Of Wes Anderson

nullWes Anderson’s films are, in many ways, like hyper-stylized book adaptations. They are heavily dialogue-focused. Each one can (and often does) take place over a wide span of locations and/or periods. They often have a timeless feel to them, both in the now and of another era. And heck, they’re even each broken into chapters.

Given the frequently literary feeling of Anderson’s films, it seems more than fitting that someone reimagine movie posters for his work as classic book covers. And that’s exactly what Etsy artist Patrick Concepcion has done. From his online shop, The Concepción Studios  the San Jose-based designer offers a unique take on posters from five of the distinctive director’s films.

A fan of “The Royal Tenenbaums”? Concepcion has you covered with an abandoned tennis court print. If you’re more of a ‘Life Aquatic‘ dude/dudette, not to worry. The shop has a cool design of a mini-sub searching the ocean depths. Concepcion has also envisioned Best Picture nominee “The Grand Budapest Hotel” and “Rushmore” as retro book covers.

You can check out the entire set of Wes Anderson movie posters as retro novel covers here. And over at the store, diverging from the vintage read model, there are actually two different prints inspired by “Moonrise Kingdom.” (The “Moonrise Kingdom” offerings are the closest in size to actual novels, as well. They’re 10”x8” or 5”x5” depending on the design, whereas the other four are 12”x18”.)
