It seems almost every actor has a burning desire to direct at some point, and for Chris Evans, it’s a gig he’s been itching to get for a while now. “I’ve seen movies with the best scripts and the best actors on the planet, and they make shitty movies because they’ve got shitty directors. Something about having the responsibility to tie all of these pieces together, and being able to speak coherently to all of your different artistic people and all of these different departments… I just want to do it so badly.” he told AICN in 2011 about his desire to get behind the camera. Deadline reports that Evans will star in and direct “1:30 Train,” a movie he had been slated to appear in with another helmer previously, before it fell apart. Produced by McG‘s Wonderland Sound And Vision and penned by Ron Bass (“Snow Falling On Cedars,” “Rain Man“), the project will apparently boast a “Before Sunrise“-esque vibe, centering on two strangers who meet in Manhattan, spend an evening together and learn about feelings and stuff, presumably before the titular train rolls into the station. No word yet on who will nab the female lead.
The plan is for this to roll into production soon and get completed before Evans has to put his Marvel gear back on for “The Avengers: Age Of Ultron.” We’re always curious when actors transition over to the directors chair, and this look like a decent low-key project to his feet wet, so we’re certainly intrigued to see how it all turns out.
