Got a Tip?

Chris Pratt’s ‘Guardians Of The Galaxy’ Character Confirmed For ‘Thor: Love & Thunder’

It shouldn’t be a major surprise, given Vin Diesel‘s comments this past summer, and the events of “Avengers: Endgame,” but Chris Pratt will be reprising his Star-Lord characters from the “Guardians Of The Galaxy” franchise in “Thor: Love And Thunder,” which is set to shoot in January in Australia.

THR says Pratt will do a short round of additional photography for his sci-fi movie “The Tomorrow War” before heading to the land down under to do his part in the Marvel film.

As the trade already suggests, this shouldn’t be much of a shocker (and it’s probably not much of a huge role). Vin Diesel (who voices the Groot character) already said recently that some of the “Guardians Of The Galaxy” characters would likely show up in the fourth ‘Thor’ film. This makes sense; at the end of ‘Endgame,’ Thor (Chris Hemsworth), was seen abandoning his post as the king of New Asgard and instead, joining the Guardians on their ship in a new adventure (a team which he dubbed “The Asgardians of The Galaxy”). We can assume Pratt won’t be the only ‘Guardians’ actor making an appearance. Obviously, keeping it simple for pandemic shooting reasons, one can reasonably speculate that Diesel and Bradley Cooper’s (who voices Rocket) characters could show up too.

Many have already assumed for ‘Love And Thunder’ to begin, Thor has to say goodbye to the ‘Asgardians of the Galaxy’ team and return to Earth to find Jane Foster and resume that storyline. Hemsworth and Pratt’s character had a fun rivalry storyline in the ‘Avengers’ finale and, surely filmmaker Taika Waititi (“Thor: Ragnarok“), will make a fun meal out of that.

Waititi will again write and direct, and voice the character Korg once more. In addition to Chris Hemsworth as the former God of Thunder, “Thor: Love & Thunder” will include Natalie Portman, reprising the role of Jane Forster, eventually becoming The Mighty Thor, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, the new ruler of Asgard, and Christian Bale in a mystery villain role.

While pandemic schedules can and will change anything these days, “Thor Love And Thunder” is currently scheduled for release on February 11, 2022.
