Got a Tip?

Cinematographer Adam Kimmel Arrested

As if the trivia/news surrounding “Moneyball” couldn’t get more fascinating/bizarre (seriously, a Vanity Fair style story on this film’s development would be amazing), now comes word that cinematographer Adam Kimmel has been arrested on charges that he sexually assaulted a child in Connecticut (pictured here on the left of Craig Gillespie and Bennett Miller).

Kimmel’s resume, while brief, is fairly stellar. “Capote,” “Lars & The Real Girl,” “Jesus’ Son,” Spike Jonze’s short “I’m Here” and Mark Romanek’s forthcoming “Never Let Me Go” all bear his credit. Kimmel was next set to work with Bennett Miller on “Moneyball” though, we would imagine he will be replaced shortly. Kimmel was apparently a registered sex offender in New York state, and he currently faces numerous charges including risk of injury to a minor and a single count of fourth-degree sexual assault. He is currently free on bail.

And speaking of “Moneyball,” the shooting draft of the script that’s set to go in front of cameras this summer with Jonah Hill and Brad Pitt is currently at Major League Baseball head offices to get the thumbs up. From what we hear, this is merely a formality as the script is expected to get the okay.

We’re sure at this point Columbia want MLB to give the thumbs up and for “Moneyball” to get in front of cameras without any further delay. We’re in the same boat. The pairing of Hill/Pitt sounds potentially great and we hope Miller can shout “Play ball!” soon without any further hiccups.
