'Close To You' Trailer: Elliot Page Stars In Drama About A Trans Person Going Back To His Hometown

Elliot Page has been incredibly open and honest during his transition. He even wrote a book about it. And now, it appears the actor is ready to explore the issues trans people face on the big screen. 

As seen in the trailer for “Close to You,” the film tells the story of a trans man coming back to his hometown after years away. While there, he tries to reconnect with his family, as well as friends who haven’t seen him since his transition.

Elliot Page is probably best known for his roles in films such as “Inception” and “Juno.” However, more recently, he’s starred on the Netflix superhero series, “The Umbrella Academy.” That series also tackled Page’s transition, as it happened in between seasons of the show. 

“Close to you” is directed by British filmmaker Dominic Savage. He’s best known for a variety of TV work, but he’s directed films such as “The Escape” and “Love + Hate.”

“Close to You” arrives in theaters on August 16. You can watch the trailer below.
