Now that he’s got some time to spare post-"Interstellar," Christopher Nolan has been using his pull to back filmmakers doing daring work, who perhaps don’t quite have the stature they deserve. To help him out, Nolan has teamed with the tastemakers at Zeitgeist Films, and one of the first productions to roll off the block co-signed with the director’s production company Syncopy is Andrey Zvyagintsev‘s "Elena." Luckily, we’ve got a few Blu-ray copies to get into your hands.

From the director of "Leviathan", the Cannes’ Un Certain Regard Special Jury Prize winning thriller follows sixty-ish spouses Vladimir and Elena, who uneasily share his palatial Moscow apartment. He’s a still-virile, wealthy businessman; she’s his former nurse who has "married up." Estranged from his own wild-child daughter, Vladimir openly despises his wife’s freeloading son and family. But when a sudden illness and an unexpected reunion threaten Elena’s potential inheritance, she must hatch a desperate plan. "Elena" made big waves on the arthouse circuit and now’s the time to catch up.
