Without a doubt, Paul Thomas Anderson’s “Phantom Thread” is one of the best films of 2017. That’s definitely not going out on a limb to say, at all. From the amazing acting by Daniel Day-Lewis (in his final performance, purportedly) to the incredible costume design (which won Mark Bridges an Oscar, and perhaps a jet ski?), the film is truly a masterpiece. And this is why we’re excited to offer our readers a chance to take home the remarkable film in our latest contest.
“Phantom Thread” tells the story of Reynolds Woodcock (Day-Lewis), a dressmaker, who takes a young waitress as his muse. This leads to one of the most interesting relationships put to film in 2017. And that’s not to mention the fascinating relationship between Woodcock and his sister Cyril (Lesley Manville), who almost steals the show. The film went on to be nominated for six Academy Awards, including the win by Bridges, four BAFTAs and two Golden Globes. Needless to say, this is a film that deserves its place as part of any cinephile’s collection.
