Stand up comedy is at a bit of a crossroads. With the #MeToo movement taking over Hollywood and the general public embracing a more “woke” attitude, the typically crass, offensive world of stand up comedy has been under intense scrutiny as of late. And that’s just one of the topics that Pete Holmes is tackling in his new season of “Crashing.” That and his always-evolving, never-working-out love life.

In the latest trailer for the HBO comedy series, we see that things look to be going right for Pete’s character. He’s met this wild, offbeat, beautiful woman, who is making him happy and opening him up to some new, exciting situations (namely involving a dressing room). But his friends use this as an opportunity to lob joke after joke at the comedian. On top of all that, there’s the not-so-subtle commentary on the idea of consent and the female comedian vs. male comedian thing that seems to be going on a lot lately.

As always, there’s a ton going on in Holme’s seemingly simple 30-minute comedy series. And as always, “Crashing” features a whos-who of comedy talent, including Jamie Lee, Dave Attell, John Mulaney, Amy Schumer, Ray Romano, Colin Quinn, and more.
HBO is set to premiere Season 3 of “Crashing” on January 20.
