‘Curb Your Enthusiasm’ Trailer: Larry David Is The Hero We Need

Fans were delighted when it was announced that after being off the air since 2011, Larry David (co-creator of “Seinfeld”) was bringing his hit series Curb Your Enthusiasm” back to HBO for its ninth season. The improvised comedy, which follows a version of David as he navigates life’s constant barrage of annoyances with varying degrees of success, returns this fall with ten new episodes.

Longtime star Cheryl Hines will join David in the revival, as well as recurring guests Richard Lewis, Bob Einstein, Ted Danson and Mary Steenburgen. But they won’t be alone. “Curb Your Enthusiasm” will also welcome a crowd of famous faces for its upcoming season including: Elizabeth Banks, Bryan Cranston, Jimmy KimmelEd Begley, Jr., Carrie Brownstein, Lauren Graham, Nick Offerman, Nasim Pedrad, Elizabeth Perkins, June Diane Raphael and Judge Judy herself, Judith Sheindlin.

Why come back? Vulture reported during the TCAs that David genuinely missed the show. The comedian said he generally doesn’t romanticize the past and he wasn’t, quote, a “misser.” “I was missing [the show].  And I was missing these idiots. So I thought, ‘Yeah, what the hell?’ ”

Plus there were those pesky questions always arising. “I got tired of people asking me, ‘Is the show coming back?’ I wasn’t ready to say ‘no, never.’ ”

According to the Hollywood Reporter, even when David wasn’t working on the show he continued to jot down ideas as they came to him. “It wasn’t like [Larry] stopped with [his] little notebook,” executive producer and director Jeff Schaffer said. “It was just a question of where those ideas were going to go… the shows are chock-full. They’re dense… Just a lot of stuff to get out.”
