Got a Tip?

Daniel Craig On The Next James Bond Next: “I Don’t Care” Who Plays 007

The amount of speculation and rumors surrounding the future of the James Bond franchise is a bit ridiculous. Sure, it’s a massive, historic franchise, but it’s wild to see just how much people love to talk about who will play 007 in the wake of Daniel Craig stepping away. Not even Daniel Craig himself cares that much.

In a recent Variety video, where “Queer” stars Daniel Craig and Drew Starkey play a game to see who knows each other better, there was a question about who they would choose to play James Bond next. Sure, you might expect Craig to have a response that is thoughtful. But whether it’s just because he was on camera or because it’s the truth, Craig really doesn’t care who plays James Bond next. In fact, Craig laughed and said, “I don’t care.”

This wouldn’t be the first time that Craig has said something that would shock Bond fans. There was a point, in the middle of his time as 007, Craig said he’d rather hurt himself than actually play the character again. However, as we know, that was exaggeration, and he would go on to play Bond more.

To be fair, it’s also a weird question to ask Craig. He’s clearly moved on with his life and is out there taking more diverse and interesting roles. It’s not like he’s going to name-drop someone he has heard rumors about. Could you imagine he would write down Aaron Taylor-Johnson? Why would he even stoke the rumors at all.

All that to say, it’s not all that surprising that he didn’t name someone to answer the question. Of course, saying, “I don’t care,” isn’t necessarily the response fans of 007 would expect.

As mentioned, you can see Craig in his new movie, “Queer,” when it hits theaters on November 27.
