Forget Batman, Danny Boyle Thinks Robert Pattinson Would Be A Great James Bond

If you’ve watched any of Robert Pattinson’s latest films, you’ll probably sit there wondering about which role he’d be perfect for. Warner Bros. and Matt Reeves have already decided he’d be great for Bruce Wayne, aka Batman. And according to Danny Boyle, who briefly flirted with the idea of making a James Bond film, thinks that Pattinson would be perfect for the iconic British spy.

Speaking to The Guardian, Boyle was talking about watching Pattinson in the new film “High Life.” And while it’s clear that the director was happy with the former “Twilight” star’s work in the Clarie Denis-directed feature, Boyle’s mind drifted to another role that the young British actor would be perfect for.

“And it was so bizarre, because I was sitting there thinking: ‘Oh my God, they should get him to be the next Bond,” said Boyle.

When the idea of Pattinson being too young to play the suave superspy was brought up, Boyle replied, “No, no. He must be in his 30s. How old was [Sean] Connery? He’s ready now.”

It would be almost unfair to the rest of the acting community if Pattinson not only got to play the most popular superhero in the world, but also got the opportunity to portray the most famous spy on the planet, as well. However, now that Boyle mentions it, ‘Bond’ producer Barbara Broccoli (who has already shot down the idea of a female 007) could do a lot worse than Pattinson for the role.

The idea of who will take over for Daniel Craig after the upcoming “Bond 25” has been fiercely debated for months. The seeming fan-favorite choice is Idris Elba. However, what is more likely is that the folks behind the scenes will want someone a bit younger to portray the spy, so that they can build the franchise over the next decade-plus. And unfortunately, while Elba is still very much in shape, he’s already 46 years old.

For those worried that Pattinson will be the next Bond, don’t freak out yet. “Bond 25” isn’t arriving until April 2020 and it’ll likely be at least two or three years after the before they reboot the franchise yet again. By that time, there’s likely to be a new slew of actors that will be at the top of everyone’s lists.
