‘Dark Phoenix’ Clips Show Jessica Chastain & Sophie Turner Discuss Being Evil & Quicksilver Doing The Only Thing He Does

Believe it or not, we are just over two weeks away from a new “X-Men” film, with “Dark Phoenix” on the horizon. Remember when the Fox superhero films used to be an event? Now, if “Deadpool” doesn’t appear in the title, audiences generally couldn’t care less. But alas, the show must go on, and with “Dark Phoenix,” the long 20-year history of X-films comes to its culmination.

And since the film is on the verge of release, clips are starting to pop up, giving fans a taste of what writer-director Simon Kinberg and his A-list cast have up their sleeve. Spoiler alert: it looks like every other recent ‘X-Men’ film. But this time, the wrinkle is that the bad guy is…dun dun dunnnnn…one of their own!

In “Dark Phoenix,” the young Jean Grey, the powerful telepath/telekinetic hero, gets imbued with the power of the Phoenix Force. And unfortunately, with this great power comes great evil, as Grey turns against her fellow X-people.

The new clips basically show you all this, as one features Jean Grey talking to Jessica Chastain’s mysterious villain character. There’s another clip of James McAvoy and Michael Fassbender’s Xavier and Magneto characters discussing philosophy, as they do. And finally, one of the highlights of recent X-films is spoiled as the clip shows the one scene per movie where Evan Peters’ Quicksilver is allowed to do something really cool.
