'Dark Phoenix' Final Trailer: Fox's 'X-Men' Swansong Features Sophie Turner Breaking Bad

With all the talk surrounding “Captain Marvel,” “Shazam,” and of course, “Avengers: Endgame,” 2019 has already been a year filled with massive superhero films, most of which have been successful. But lurking around the corner is Fox’s last “X-Men” film, titled “Dark Phoenix,” and it’s honestly hard to find many people super excited it. That being said, maybe the final trailer will do the trick.

In the new trailer, we get a better idea of what the overall story is for “Dark Phoenix,” and if you’re a fan of the comic books, then you pretty much knew this already. The X-Men go off into space to rescue some astronauts. While out there, the young Jean Grey absorbs the Phoenix Force and it begins to corrupt her, making her the most powerful person on the planet.

As mentioned, this is the final “X-Men” film under the Fox reign, and many assume that it will be the last film to feature this cast. Disney is likely to reboot the franchise, albeit in several years. So, if you’re a fan of these characters, and particularly, this cast, you’re probably going to want to check this out.

The film stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner, Tye Sheridan, Alexandra Shipp, Kodi Smit-McPhee, Evan Peters, and Jessica Chastain. “Dark Phoenix” marks the directorial debut of long-time “X-Men” producer-writer Simon Kinberg.

“Dark Phoenix” is set to hit theaters on June 6.

Here’s the synopsis:

This is the story of one of the X-Men’s most beloved characters, Jean Grey, as she evolves into the iconic DARK PHOENIX. During a life-threatening rescue mission in space, Jean is hit by a cosmic force that transforms her into one of the most powerful mutants of all. Wrestling with this increasingly unstable power as well as her own personal demons, Jean spirals out of control, tearing the X-Men family apart and threatening to destroy the very fabric of our planet. The film is the most intense and emotional X-Men movie ever made. It is the culmination of 20 years of X-Men movies, as the family of mutants that we’ve come to know and love must face their most devastating enemy yet — one of their own.
