Dave Bautista Says He May Not Return for 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3'

Dave Bautista‘s ongoing battle with Disney grows more complicated by the day. Earlier this month, we reported that Bautista has threatened to quit the “Guardians of The Galaxy” franchise should Disney throw out James Gunn’s original script for ‘Vol. 3.’ Now, Bautista’s involvement with the troubled film has been thrown further in question. Or at least, the actor is taking nearly every opportunity to cast some doubt and or call Disney’s bluff.

During an interview with Jonathan Ross in the U.K., Bautista said that he is “not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn” and that he doesn’t even know that he wants “want to work for Disney.” Consider that earlier on; he said he would fulfill his contractual obligations to Disney-Marvel. This whole brouhaha seems to have left quite a sour taste in Bautista’s mouth.

“There’s a bit of an issue. It’s a bitter-sweet conversation. Um, no it’s a bitter-bitter conversation because I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn. They’re putting the movie off. It’s on hold indefinitely. To be honest with you I don’t know if I want to work for Disney.”

So how do we proceed? Despite rumored eleventh-hour pleas from Marvel to rehire Gunn, Disney remains steadfast. Somehow the company seems immune to the criticism from their fans, yet they’re deeply troubled by the mean words of the shadowy cave-dwellers of alt-right Twitter. Unlikely though it may be that Disney will cut this charade short, you can count on Dave Bautista to remain extremely vocal about his displeasure with Gunn’s firing. The honesty with which he speaks truth to power is genuinely refreshing, especially given the bad-faith alt-righters Disney caved to. But for Disney, it probably falls into that “bad PR” category so one has to wonder if Drax’s fate is being altered as we speak.

The ramifications of Disney’s termination of James Gunn are spreading to ‘Avengers 4‘, as Bautista has already implied. We’ll just have to wait and see how the rest of our heroes fare when ‘Avengers 4’ is released in April 2019 (via MCU Cosmic).
