David S. Goyer Says 'Man Of Steel' Teases Justice League Founder Cyborg

null“The plan is for a universe that will allow for other DC characters,” Warner Bros. honcho Jeff Robinov recently said about the launch of “Man Of Steel.” And while “Justice League” doesn’t look like it’ll happen until after the now fast-trackedMan Of Steel” sequel. But that doesn’t mean there won’t be world-building and it has started already. The LexCorp logo has already been glimpsed on a building in the trailer, while director Zack Snyder has already revealed that Wayne Enterprises make an appearance. And what else? Well, something a bit surprising.

“We mentioned S.T.A.R. Labs at one point, that’s kind of a connection to Cyborg,” screenwriter David S. Goyer told MTV. Wait, what? For decades, the character was part of the Teen Titans (who sort of became DC’s answer to X-Men), but it was completely overhauled in recent iterations of the comic, with Cyborg becoming a founding member of Justice League. Yeah, you see what they did there? And in terms of fitting into the “realistic” world Superman now plays in, Cyborg — who is essentially human but aided by all kinds of mechanical gizmos — perfectly lands in that sphere.

“The ‘Dark Knight’ films do not exist in the same universe. Zack [Snyder] has gone on record. The fact that we have Wayne Industries on the satellite, Bruce Wayne exists in this universe,” Goyer added. “Lex Luthor exists in this universe. Other metahumans do exist in this universe, so the hope is, depending on how the film does, that we’ll be able to roll into some other films.”

So just one more thing to keep a razor sharp ear and eye out for when “Man Of Steel” drops on June 14th.
