“Justice League 2”
Starring: Henry Cavill, Ben Affleck, Gal Gadot, Ezra Miller, Ray Fisher, and Jason Momoa
Directed by: TBD
The Latest: This film was part of the 2014 announcement when it was revealed that Zack Snyder’s “Justice League” saga would be split among two films. Eventually, the film was condensed into one film, but the sequel was always seen as guaranteed to happen. How could it not happen? It’s DC’s “Avengers” for Pete’s sake! Then with Snyder’s exit, and “Justice League” failing to do well at the box office, plans for “Justice League 2” were quickly shelved. In the interim, Snyder has gone on social media to share more information about his plans for the sequel, but it seems like an impending team-up film featuring the biggest stars of the DCEU seems like a pipe dream.
Odds of Release: 25%. Even as it feels like there’s truly a 0% chance that this film will ever happen, we must consider that WB/DC looks at the “Justice League” brand as an untapped resource. Despite the first film’s failings, if “Aquaman,” “Wonder Woman 1984,” and any of the other pending film releases stoke a renewed interest in the DCEU, the studio would be silly to not make another “Justice League” film. The success of Marvel Studios’ “Avengers” films is far too tempting.

“Deadshot”
Starring: Will Smith
Directed by: TBD
The Latest: Spinning off of 2016’s “Suicide Squad,” a solo “Deadshot” film seemed to be a solid pick at the time it was rumored to be in development later that year. Now, though, with the massive changes behind the scenes at WB/DC, the odds don’t seem to be in Will Smith’s favor, and that may not be such a bad thing. Back in September, the actor confirmed that talks had happened regarding the potential “Deadshot” solo film, but nothing was concrete. Now, as James Gunn takes over “Suicide Squad 2,” there’s renewed interest in the Will Smith character. Of course, that depends on what Gunn decides to do with the character.
Odds of Release: 20%. Will Smith is still a massive star, and his recent foray into YouTube vlogging has made him even more of an A-lister, particularly with a younger generation. While the odds of “Deadshot” happening soon are very, very low, let’s revisit this film if/when James Gunn brings “Suicide Squad 2” to theaters.

“Juggalo Joker” (aka Jared Leto solo Joker film)
Starring: Jared Leto
Directed by: TBD
The Latest: When Joaquin Phoenix was announced as the actor who will play the Joker in a feature film in 2019, many assumed that Jared Leto was done as the character. Leto’s version of the character, as seen briefly in “Suicide Squad,” is highly-debated, with even the director pointing out that maybe he went too far. Leto also famously was a bit of a maniac behind the scenes, sending obscene gifts to castmates and generally acting like a crazy person. But, when Phoenix’s “Joker” was officially announced, reports circulated that Leto’s solo Joker film is still in development. So, at this point, who knows?
Odds of Release: 15%. Despite polarizing fans, there is still a large chunk of the audience that enjoyed Leto’s “Juggalo Joker” character. And if “Suicide Squad 2” happens with James Gunn, there’s a large chance that Leto might get another crack at the character, further adding fuel to the solo film fire. Also, if “Birds of Prey” takes off, and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn becomes even more of a fan-favorite, WB/DC could dust off Leto’s Clown Prince of Crime for his own feature. There may still be life in Leto yet.

“Man of Steel 2”
Starring: Henry Cavill
Directed by: TBD, though Christopher McQuarrie has long been rumored.
The Latest: Even though “Justice League” was a certified shitshow of a film, there were a couple of bright spots. One of those was the character of Superman in the third act. By the end of the film, fans finally saw Henry Cavill fully embrace the “aw shucks!” Big Blue Boyscout and gave audiences a hopeful, cheery Superman, in the same vein of Christopher Reeve. Since then, the idea of a “Man of Steel 2” has been floating around the rumor mill. Filmmakers like Matthew Vaughn and Christopher McQuarrie have been named as possibilities, with the latter publicly speaking about conversing with Cavill about the potential film. Hell, we’ve even heard that “Mad Max” filmmaker George Miller might be on a short list. That being said, the film seems to have stalled out recently with the aforementioned “Supergirl” getting the spotlight from WB and rumors that the actor wasn’t able to negotiate a cameo in “Shazam!”
Odds of Release: 10%. Sure, there’s been multiple appearances by Cavill in DC films as Superman, but with the studio wanting to take things in a new direction, we could have already seen the end of Cavill’s run.

“Lobo”
Starring: TBD
Directed by: Michael Bay
The Latest: There’s not much to report on “Lobo.” Back in February, it was revealed that Warner Bros. was looking at Michael Bay to potentially helm a “Lobo” film since he parted ways with the “Transformers” franchise. The combination of Bay and “Lobo” seemed like a great fit, considering the character is known for being completely over-the-top with sex, violence, and language, as some consider him to be DC’s answer to Deadpool. However, since then, there hasn’t been a peep, and Bay is currently busy helming a new film with “Deadpool’s” Ryan Reynolds over at Netflix. There has been some live-action new surrounding Lobo recently, however, as the character has been confirmed as showing up on the Syfy series “Krypton.” That being said, the Internet’s reaction to the character’s look for the show has made the solo feature film seem less and less likely.
Odds of Release: 10%. Lobo has always been seen as a silly, violent, offensive joke of a character. But when has that ever scared off Michael Bay? Even though it seems highly unlikely, it’s not hard to imagine a world where Bay brings his signature Bayhem to the DC Universe.
