Featuring the return of Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool himself, and introducing an incredible ensemble cast into the comic universe including Terry Crews as Edlam and Josh Brolin as Cable, fans have been hotly anticipating the release of “Deadpool 2.” However, rumors of reshoots and poor testing may have rankled the diehards a little. Most of those reports were debunked, but like much fake news, the damage tends to stick. And this recent news may further agitate.
Coming from the Tracking Board’s Jeff Sneider – who loves to drop news he can’t confirm in podcasts rather than in print – an appearance on Meet The Press suggests the newest rumor centers on Jack Kesy, who plays one of the antagonists in the film. The “Death Wish” star who was said to be the main villain in the superhero movie, will apparently no longer be making an appearance. Treat it as a rumor for now, but Sneider tends to be on the money.
While trailers for the film lead us to believe that Cable is Deadpool’s main focus, Kesy was rumored to play Black Tom in the “Deadpool” sequel, the film’s alleged primary antagonist. In the comics, Black Tom Cassidy is the brother of Banshee and enemy of Cable and the X-Men. He also has a bromance throughout the comics with the character Juggernaut, who is an enemy of Cable and once rumored to be part of “Deadpool 2.”
Could this be the beginning of a Deadpool and Cable alliance? Presumably, they’ll make amends by the end, so that “X-Force” can be a thing. But we shall see. “Deadpool 2” is directed by “John Wick” helmer David Leitch and co-stars Zazie Beetz, Morena Baccarin, Bill Skarsgård, T.J. Miller and Julian Dennison from “Hunt For The Wilderpeple,” who appears to be a mutant that’s critical to the film’s plot. “Deadpool 2” opens May 18, just one week before “Solo: A Star Wars” story, which might make for the most interesting box office weekend of the year to watch.
