'Destroyer' Final Trailer: Forget 'Aquaman,' This Is The Nicole Kidman Film To Watch This Christmas

This Christmas, many film fans are going to get a glimpse of Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman playing Queen Atlanna in the superhero epic “Aquaman.” Sadly, for most of the world, this is how they will remember Kidman in 2018, as the CGI-faced queen that eats goldfish and gave birth to Jason Momoa. Instead, they should watch her in the upcoming film “Destroyer,” which hits theaters around the same time as the terrible superhero film.

In the final trailer for “Destroyer,” we once again get a glimpse of an unrecognizable Kidman as the LAPD detective Erin Bell, wearing all the signs of the hard life she has lived on her face. “Destroyer” is a film that has been getting incredible reviews since its debut on the fall film festival circuit and has already earned Kidman a Golden Globe nomination (and most likely, an Oscar nom, as well).

“Destroyer” comes from filmmaker Karyn Kusama, who is probably best known for her cult-classic horror film “Jennifer’s Body,” her incredible debut “Girl Fight,” and the criminally underrated “The Invitation.” This latest film looks to be Kusama’s big break that film fans have been hoping would come for over a decade now.

“Destroyer” hits theaters on December 25.

Here’s the synopsis:

Destroyer follows the moral and existential odyssey of LAPD detective Erin Bell who, as a young cop, was placed undercover with a gang in the California desert with tragic results. When the leader of that gang re-emerges many years later, she must work her way back through the remaining members and into her own history with them to finally reckon with the demons that destroyed her past.
