The opioid crisis in the United States is a very tragic, heartbreaking issue. So many people have died due to what has now been proven to be a reckless solicitation of pain medication by pharmaceutical companies. Now, Hulu hopes to shed more light on the situation in its upcoming drama series, “Dopesick.”

As seen in the trailer for “Dopesick,” the series follows various stories that all seem to converge around the topic of opioid prescriptions in the US. One of the characters is a rural doctor, played by Michael Keaton, who has come to realize that by prescribing Oxycontin to some of his miner patients, he effectively provided the means of their own deaths.
The new drama series features an all-star ensemble led by Keaton alongside folks such as Peter Sarsgaard, Michael Stuhlbarg, Will Poulter, John Hoogenakker, Kaitlyn Dever, Rosario Dawson, Phillipa Soo, and Jake McDorman. “Dopesick” is written by “Empire” and “Recount” screenwriter Danny Strong, with legendary filmmaker Barry Levinson on board to direct.

The first three episodes of “Dopesick” will premiere on October 13, with new episodes hitting Hulu weekly after that. You can watch the trailer below.
