‘Dune: Part Two’ Trailer: Fury Rises In Denis Villeneuve’s Much-Anticipated Sci-Fi Epic

Dune: Part Two” might be the second chapter of Denis Villeneuve’s epic space saga, but the filmmaker says it’s imperative to stress it’s not a sequel, as the film picks up exactly where the last one left off. “It’s important—it’s not a sequel, it’s a second part. I wanted dramatic continuity with part one.”

What’s different in ‘Part Two?’ Well, not that much in that it’s still the story of Paul Atreides and whether he can avenge his father’s death, fulfill the prophecy, and unite the surviving people of his House and the indigenous Fremen from the desert planet Arrakis in the war against the invading Harkonnen.

Everyone who survived the first film reprises their roles, including Timothée Chalamet as Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson, Josh Brolin, Stellan Skarsgård, Dave Bautista, Stephen McKinley Henderson, Zendaya, Charlotte Rampling, and Javier Bardem. Newcomers joining the ensemble cast, mostly playing new villains, include Austin Butler, Florence Pugh, Christopher Walken, and Léa Seydoux.

Here’s the official synopsis:

“Dune: Part Two” will explore the mythic journey of Paul Atreides as he unites with Chani and the Fremen while on a warpath of revenge against the conspirators who destroyed his family. Facing a choice between the love of his life and the fate of the known universe, he endeavors to prevent a terrible future only he can foresee.
