Kathryn Newton has a busy 2026, with “Ready Or Not 2” already behind her, “The Devil’s Mouth” on Prime Video in July and “Avengers: Endgame” in theaters this December, and “DreamQuil,” fresh off its SXSW world premiere, potentially reaching audiences, too. Now the actress adds a new TV role to her list of upcoming projects, and what may be her first main role since “Big Little Lies” and “The Society.”
Deadline reports that Newton will star opposite Cooper Hoffman in the pilot of “Durango,” a new Hulu drama from writer Eliza Clark. Newton will play Bunny, a runaway working as a waitress at a greasy-spoon diner near a ski mountain, who meets Hoffman’s snowboarder Mikey and kicks off a whirlwind romance that unearths some of her long-buried secrets.
Here’s a logline for “Durango,” courtesy of Hulu:
Durango follows Mikey, a ski bum townie chasing a buzz. Bunny is a homeschooled runaway working as a greasy-spoon waitress. Together they’re riding an avalanche of bad decisions and falling in love while running from cops, criminals, and Mikey’s wife in pursuit of their own American dream.
20th Television and Media Res produce “Durango,” with Clark on board as an executive producer with Media Res’ Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer.
Other upcoming projects for Newton include a new Jean-Michel Basquiat biopic “Samo Lives” and the Christmas horror film “White Elephant.” She’s currently in production for “Hot Year,” the debut film of Roxy Sophie Sorkin. As for Hoffman, he stars next in Gregg Araki‘s “I Want Your Sex,” in theaters July 31, A24 crime pic “The Chaperones,” and Luca Guadagnino‘s “Artificial.”
