For many actors working today, the dream of landing one major superhero role seems incredibly difficult. But then you have Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who not only has his upcoming starring role in “Black Adam” for Warner Bros. but apparently is ready to land his second superhero role in the upcoming “DC League of Super-Pets.”
According to Variety, Dwayne Johnson has landed the role of Krypto in the upcoming animated film “DC League of Super-Pets” for Warner Bros. ‘Super-Pets,’ as the title implies, is an animated film that focuses on the super-powered animals of the DC Universe, with Krypto being the famous dog of Superman. The film tells the story of Krypto as he teams up with a flying cat to save the day when Superman goes on vacation.
As mentioned, Johnson is in the middle of filming “Black Adam” now, which seems to be the actor’s superhero passion project. But hey, when asked to voice the coolest dog in the DC Universe, you don’t say no, right? In addition to “Black Adam,” Johnson is set to appear in films such as the upcoming “Jungle Cruise” and “Red Notice.”

Sam Levine is set to direct “DC League of Super-Pets,” marking his feature directorial debut. Previously, the filmmaker directed episodes of the series “Penn Zero: Part-Time Hero” and “Robot and Monster.” It’s unclear who might voice the various other characters in the ‘Super-Pets’ film, but if Johnson is on board, you have to assume there will be other A-listers quick to sign up.
“DC League of Super-Pets” is expected to arrive in theaters on May 20, 2022. So we can probably expect more casting announcements shortly.
