The American Cinema Editors nominations have finally been announced. These come after all the other Guild’s noms (PGA, DGA, WGA, SAG, ACS), which makes them last, but not least. Besides the DGA, the Eddies are known to be the best indicator for things come Oscar time. In the past 7 years, the winner of the Eddie has gone on to win the Editing Academy Award. You have to go back to 2000 to avoid this, when “Gladiator” won the Eddie but “Traffic” won the Oscar. Gladiator went on to win Best Picture though, and the winner of the Eddie seems to have 50% prediction rate for Best Picture, calling it 4 out of the past 8 years. Got all that? Okay, here they are:

Now you’ll notice, the films nominated in the Dramatic Category are the same exact 5 films that have been nominated for both the PGA and the DGA! What does this mean? It means that if you are making any monetary wagers as to what will be the Best Picture nominees this season, you better put your money on these guys.
