Benedict Cumberbatch’s Art Biopic ‘The Electrical Life Of Louis Wain’ Features Taika Waititi, Olivia Colman & Nick Cave Cameos

The British film “The Electrical Life of Louis Wain” will be heading to the Toronto International Film Festival to make its premiere soon. Directed by Will Shape (Channel 4’s “Flowers” series), the film stars Benedict Cumberbatch (“The Intimidation Game“) as the titular Victorian-era artist, known for his eccentric obsession with drawing strange-looking cats.

With its debut just a few short weeks away, Empire has now revealed some nifty cameos that include narration from Oscar-winner Olivia Colman (“The Favourite,” “The Father,” “Secret Invasion“) along with on-camera appearances from Taika Waititi (“Free Guy,” “Jojo Rabbit“) and Aussie musician//composer/screenwriter Nick Cave (“The Assassination of Jesse James By The Coward Robert Ford“).

Waititi will play New York newspaper editor Max Kase while Cave will portray legendary sci-fi author H.G. Wells, known for works like “War of The Worlds” and “The Time Machine.

Here is the official synopsis for the upcoming film co-written by Simon Stephenson and Will Sharpe:

“‘The Electrical Life of Louis Wain’ tells the story of the Victorian-era artist whose widely published drawings of anthropomorphized cats transformed them from mysterious to irresistible. In a dazzling, career-best performance, Benedict Cumberbatch plays one of Britain’s most influential eccentrics as a flurry of wild ideas and prodigious artistic output.”

“The Electrical Life of Louis Wain” will release against “Dune” on October 22 in theaters and will hit Amazon Prime Video on November 5, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Other members of the cast consist of Claire Foy (“The Crown,” “The Girl In The Spider’s Web“), Andrea Riseborough (“Possessor,” “Mandy,” “Oblivion“), Toby Jones (“Captain America: The First Avenger,” “Indiana Jones 5“), Sophia Di Martino (“Loki“), Asim Chaudhry (“Black Mirror: Bandersnatch“), Hayley Squires, Julian Barratt, and many more.
