According to THR, Disney has signed Emilio Estevez to reprise his role as Gordon Bombay on the upcoming Disney+ streaming series rebootquel “The Mighty Ducks.” The show is described as a 10-episode comedy series that will arrive on the streaming service later this year, and it will continue the story of the titular youth hockey team. However, the Mighty Ducks of today are very different to the loveable losers of decades prior.

According to reports, the series will pick up in the current day, where the Ducks are the premier youth hockey team, with a cocky swagger to go along with their prestige. But when a young kid is cut from the team, he teams with his mom to put together a ragtag group of misfits to create a hockey team that can challenge the Ducks. And who do you call on when you need to whip a group of pre-teens into hockey shape? Coach Gordon Bombay, naturally!

Likewise, I am thrilled to return to my old stomping grounds with my friends at Disney and Steve Brill, the original creator of the franchise, to join them on their exciting new platform, Disney+.”

Co-starring in the series is none other than “Gilmore Girls” alum Lauren Graham, as the aforementioned mother that kickstarts the new series. She and Estevez are joined by actors Brady Noon, Julee Cerda, Swayam Bhatia, Taegen Burns, Bella Higginbotham, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Maxwell Simkins, and De’Jon Watts.
