The images from the atrocities committed in Abu Ghraib still scar the national memory, and unsurprisingly, it has proven to be fodder for both documentaries and feature films, from storytellers trying to understand what happened in corridors and cells or the notorious Iraqi prison. And the latest is from writer/director Luke Moran with this debut film, “Boys Of Abu Ghraib.”
Starring Sara Paxton, Elijah Kelley, Sean Astin and Scott Gordon-Patterson, the story follows a small town soldier assigned to Abu Ghraib, where he’s pressured by his superior into using harsh techniques on a seemingly innocent detainee. It’s a powerful awakening for the young man, and as you’ll see in this exclusive, the elusive nature of truth in the context of torture adds an extra layer to how he handles his assignment, and deals with prisoners who may have the blood of innocent lives on their hands.
“The Boys Abu Ghraib” opens on March 28th. Watch below.
