Exclusive: Luke Treadaway Lays Out The Plan In Clip From Heist Flick ‘Wasteland’

The heist film is a genre that is practically as old as the cinematic medium itself, dating all the way back to the famed silent “The Great Train Robbery.” And over the decades we’ve seen all manner of lowlives, thugs and hoods plot, plan and steal all manner of loot big and small (and you can check out the ones we love in our feature, Casing ‘The Town’: Our All-Time Favorite Heist Movies). Sometimes it’s one last score before they disappear for good, and other times it’s an act of simple revenge. But we’d wager that not many films find a gang embarking on a break-in so they can raise money for…a coffee shop.

That’s the idea behind “Wasteland,” the British heist film from director Rowan Athale. Starring Luke Treadaway, Iwan Rheon, Timothy Spall, Neil Maskell, Matthew Lewis, Vanessa Kirby and Gerard Kearns, the story follows young Harvey, who is sent up to jail for a crime he didn’t commit thanks to a local drug kingpin and hatches a plan that will both let him get revenge and escape his hard luck town and start over. And in this exclusive scene we see him present his idea for the job to his pals, who aren’t quite on board just yet.

“Wasteland” hits theaters on July 26th in NY and LA, and is now available via Oscilloscopes VOD and Digital outlets: iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, Xbox, PS3, Nook, Google Play.
