Explosive: First Official ‘Hurt Locker’ Trailer Arrives

Apple trailers have the first official trailer for Kathryn Bigelow’s “The Hurt Locker” (the old one is an international version we think). Apple won’t allow you to embed, so Film School Rejects has jacked their version.

What can we say? We loved this riveting action drama about Explosive Ordnance Disposal soldiers in Iraq and we actually called it the best film of 2009 so far (and that still stands), but we have already written about it a ton, so we’ll let the trailer and synopsis do the talking for us. But first we will note that the film boasts a stellar cast including stars Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie and Brian Geraghty, and featuring appearances by David Morse, Evangeline Lilly, Guy Pearce, and Ralph Fiennes.

The Synopsis:

The Hurt Locker, winner of the 2008 Venice Film Festival SIGNIS Grand Prize, is a riveting and suspenseful portrait of the elite members of the Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) squad, soldiers who volunteer to challenge the odds and save lives in one of the world’s most dangerous jobs. Three EOD members (Jeremy Renner, Anthony Mackie, Brian Geraghty) and battle insurgents and each other as they seek out and disarm deadly bombs in a thrilling race against time. A heart-pounding, edge-of-your-seat look at the effects of combat and danger on the human psyche, The Hurt Locker, meaning a place of ultimate pain, is based on the first-hand observations of journalist and screenwriter Mark Boal, who was embedded with a special bomb unit in Iraq. It is a gripping portrayal of real-life sacrifice and heroism and a layered, probing study of the soul-numbing rigors and potent allure of the modern battlefield.

“The Hurt Locker” hits theaters in limited release via Summit Entertainment on June 26. Make sure you see this film. It’s been exalted by critics all over for good reason.
