Got a Tip?

‘A Good Old Fashioned Orgy’ Will Take Up Your Labor Day

That’s right folks, with the 2012 calendar already filling up, studios are now beginning to look two years down the road at 2013 and start planting their tentpole flags. “Elysium,” “Oz The Great And Powerful,” “Iron Man 3” and “Oblivion” are just some of the movies that have staked out their territory and now they’re getting some company.

First up, the inevitable “Fast & Furious 6” — which we’d guess is a working title for now until they come up with something awesome/terrible “Speedy Six” or whatever — will drive into multiplexes on May 24, 2013. Justin Lin will return to direct the film, and Vin Diesel pretty much confirms on Facebook that he’ll be back as well, saying today, “This miraculously gives us more preproduction time than we had on ‘Fast Five’…I am happy and excited. The Saga continues.”

A month after Vin does his thing, Ryan Reynolds and Jeff Bridges will make an unlikely pairing in graphic novel adaptation “R.I.P.D.” that follows a pair of detectives in the Rest In Peace Department, one of whom is a recently murdered cop, who decides to try and find his own killer. That one will land on June 28, 2013, and starts filming next month with “Red” director Robert Schwentke behind the camera.

Finally, for something a little closer on the calendar. Not sure what to do Labor Day weekend? How about “An Old Fashioned Orgy.” Starring a massive ensemble cast including Jason Sudeikis, Tyler Labine, Leslie Bibb, Will Forte, Lucy Punch, Lake Bell, Michelle Borth, Martin Starr, Nick Kroll, Lindsay Sloane and David Koechner, the ambitious concept centers a close group of 30-somethings who spend every summer weekend throwing elaborate theme parties at their friend Eric’s (Sudeikis) family home in the Hamptons. When Eric’s dad decides to sell off the property, the friends decide to throw one last party — an orgy. We caught the film at the Tribeca Film Festival and called it a “good, new-fashioned slob comedy.” The film will hit September 2nd where it will run up against “The Debt,” “Apollo 18” and “Shark Night 3D” so a bit of counterprogramming there.
