Got a Tip?

‘Fireball: Visitors From Darker Worlds’ Trailer: Werner Herzog’s Doc About Mythmaking Arrives In November

Apple TV+ is an interesting streaming service. Sure, it has the backing of one of the biggest companies in the world, but it also struggles to reach the masses in quite the same way that Netflix, Hulu, or even Disney+ do. You see, the primary way for people to access the streaming service is by the use of an Apple product. If you (like myself) don’t use Apple products, you better hope your TV has the TV+ app or maybe you have Roku or an Amazon Fire dongle. Otherwise, content like Werner Herzog’s new documentary, “Fireball: Visitors From Darker Worlds,” is sadly out of reach.

As seen in the trailer for the new documentary, Herzog teams with Clive Oppenheimer to tell the story of shooting stars, meteorites, and deep impact events, but not from a “the world is going to end and we’re all doomed” perspective. Instead, the two men talk about how these cosmic phenomena have influenced the ways humans have created myths throughout the centuries. Let’s be real, if you saw a shooting star four hundred years ago, it would likely hit you in a way that it wouldn’t now.

‘Fireball’ recently debuted as part of this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, where it received some pretty favorable reviews. And considering Apple TV+ is struggling to find original content that crosses over into the mainstream (lately, it would appear that “Ted Lasso” might be the biggest hit the fledgling streaming platform has had over the past year), a new Werner Herzog film might be the project that gets people like me to actually find out how to subscribe to this service.

“Fireball: Visitors from Darker Worlds” is set to arrive globally on Apple TV+ on November 13. You know, if you’re someone that has Apple products and whatnot.

Here’s the synopsis:

Following their Academy Award®-nominated work on Encounters at the End of the World and Emmy®-nominated Into the Inferno, Werner Herzog and Clive Oppenheimer’s new film FIREBALL: VISITORS FROM DARKER WORLDStakes viewers on an extraordinary journey to discover how shooting stars, meteorites and deep impacts have focused the human imagination on other realms and worlds, and on our past and our future.
