After much consternation from fans, the first trailer for Sony/Columbia Pictures’ “The Dark Tower”will finally arrive tomorrow. Directed by Nikolaj Arcel (“The Royal Affair”), unless you’ve been living under a rock, “The Dark Tower” is an adaptation of the Stephen King novel and stars Idris Elba and Matthew McConaughey as the Gunslinger and The Man In Black. It’s also been a long journey to the screen, canceled, thought of going to TV and revived once more. And the two stars just revealed the first two pieces of footage.
During their exchange on Twitter, McConaughey and Elba dropped two teasers for the film, one centering on each of their characters.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Jake, who is still reeling over the death of his hero dad, a first responder on 9/11 who succumbed to toxic exposure, has a series of terrifying and apocalyptic visions that have made him doubt his own sanity. But when Jake narrowly avoids being abducted by terrifying creatures in human form, he escapes into another world. In this strange new reality, Jake teams with weary and disillusioned hero, Roland Deschain, a knight-like warrior bent solely on avenging himself against his age-old nemesis.
Co-starring Jake Chambers, Katheryn Winnick, Jackie Earle Haley, “The Dark Tower” is set to be released on August 4, 2017 by Columbia Pictures. Check out the clips below, plus two new character posters below. Watch out for the full trailer tomorrow.
