No, This Is Not A Tim Burton Production
Some candid, personal photos of Helena Bonham Carter have landed online of the actress at her home…oh, wait, these are actually just a first look Miss Havisham at "Great Expectations."
Okay, smartass comments aside, the upcoming film by Mike Newell finds him lining up a pretty impressive cast for the Charles Dickens adaptation. Ralph Fiennes (Magwitch), Jeremy Irvine (Pip), Holliday Grainger (Estella) and Jason Flemyng (Joe Gargery) join Carter in the central roles, in a production that at least from these photos looks pretty damn lavish. Adapted for the screen by Rowan Joffe (”The American”), the classic tale follows the story of orphan Pip across 30 years as he encounters characters like escaped convict Magwitch and the shut-away Miss Havisham, while falling for the latter’s adopted daughter Estella. Filming has been underway for a month now and will last until Christmas, but it's not the only adaptation on the way. Another version is being made for TV by the BBC, directed by Brian Kirk and starring Gillian Anderson and Ray Winstone. So you're bound to at least like one of these. "
Great Expectations" will hit theaters in the U.K. via Lionsgate next fall, but no U.S. distributor is on board just yet. See both images in full below. [Deadline]
