HBO Drama Finds Its Bristol Palin, Chris Edwards & Mark Salter
Update: Deadline reveals that Sarah Paulson, Peter MacNicol and Justin Gaston have also joined the cast as McCain’s senior campaign adviser Nicolle Wallace, McCain’s campaign manager Rick Davis and Bristol Palin’s baby daddy Levi Johnston respectively.
Political heads are in for a major treat as HBO‘s forthcoming “Game Change” is not only tackling one of the most interesting political races in recent memory, but they’ve also lined up a crack cast to do it. With Julianne Moore (as Sarah Palin), Ed Harris (as John McCain), Woody Harrelson (as Steve Schmidt, McCain’s senior campaign strategist and adviser) and Ron Livingston (as Mark Wallace, a senior adviser to the McCain-Palin 2008 campaign) already on board you couldn’t really ask for more inspired choices, but if that wasn’t enough to put you over the top, perhaps this will.
People has unveiled the first official still of Julianne Moore as Sarah Palin and it’s pretty eerie how close they got down the look. As for the voice, Moore might want to get Tina Fey on the phone for some pointers. But that’s not the only movement on the film. More casting has been unveiled as THR revealed that Larry Sullivan (“CSI“), Jamey Sheridan (“Trauma“) and Melissa Farman (“Temple Grandin“) will take roles in the film as Sarah Palin’s deputy chief of staff Chris Edwards, senior campaign adviser Mark Salter and most notably Bristol Palin, respectively.
Jay Roach, who helmed the 2000 election tale “Recount” for HBO, has reunited with the writer of that film, Danny Strong, for “Game Change,” which is based on the best-seller by John Heilemann and Mark Halperin, and will track the 2008 election on both sides. It’s looking very strong thus far. Filming is expected to begin this summer.
