“You’ve never seen me like this before,” Salma Hayek told USA Today about her role in the action thriller “Everly,” which has just wrapped up filming. “And I love it. Because you really see a transformation in this character that’s noticeable and shocking. I become a badass.”
Directed by Joe Lynch (“Knights Of Badassdom“) and co-starring Togo Igawa, Masashi Fujimoto and Hiroyuki Watanabe, the Black List script by Yale Hannon centers on a down-on-her-luck woman (Hayek) who is forced to fend off waves of assassins sent by her ex, a dangerous mob boss, while trying to save her estranged mother and daughter. The film is set entirely in one apartment and is based on a concept created by Lynch.
Sierra/Affinity is handling international sales and will be presenting footage to distributors at the American Film Market this week. CAA is representing the U.S. rights.
