First Look At Woody Allen's 'Midnight In Paris' Reveals Period Setting

The first look set photos from Woody Allen’s currently-in-production “Midnight In Paris” has interestingly revealed that film will break away from Allen’s typical contemporary setting and go for 1920s Paris instead.

Among those pictured in period-appropriate attire here are Owen Wilson, Marion Cotillard, Alison Pil and an actor we’re pretty sure is Tom Hiddleston, whose role had been described as “flashy.”

The period setting definitely adds an interesting dynamic to the film; we’re especially looking forward to how the norms and morals of those times will come into effect and how Allen will handle the dialogue. The previously reported story is a romantic comedy that follows a family, including a young engaged couple, traveling to the city for business whose their lives are transformed throughout the journey. Wilson, who looks very much the part in the surrogate Allen role, and Rachel McAdams presumably play the leading young couple.

The film features a stellar and lengthy cast list including Kathy Bates, Michael Sheen, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Adrien Brody as well as the lesser-known likes of Nina Arianda, Corey Stoll, Mimi Kennedy, Kurt Fullerby and French comedians Gad Elmaleh and Manu Payet.
Shooting will go on through the summer in Paris with the finished film at the shortest of odds to premiere at next’s year Cannes Film Festival. In the meantime, 2010’s yearly dose of Allen, the London-set “You Will Meet A Tall Dark Stranger,” hits theaters September 23rd via Sony Pictures. [DailyMail/Zimbio]
